While Waupaca is a winter wonderland from December through February, we’re not so far north that spring never seems to come (we’re looking at you, Upper Michigan). By March, average highs reach 41° and in April climb to a balmy 56°-- around here, that’s reason enough to walk around in shorts. Spring is the perfect time to bust out your bicycle. With over 50 miles of off-road trail available within a 20-minute drive, each ride promises something new.
Whether you’d rather go for a dip in the turquoise waters of Chain O’ Lakes or sip a drink near it, few places hold water to Waupaca in the summertime. With dozens of spring-fed lakes at its doorstep and a brand-new splash pad in town, Waupaca offers countless options to beat the heat. From waterskiing across Rainbow Lake to tubing down the Crystal River to whitewater rafting the upper Wolf River, our clear waters make water sports a way of life.
As the weather cools and the leaves change their color, there is no better time to explore Waupaca’s wild lands. Whether you are on the hunt for fall foliage or trophy bucks, there are over 2,610 acres of public lands on Waupaca’s doorstep to enjoy. Opportunities for outdoor adventure are matched by some of Waupaca’s most popular festivals. Whether you’re enjoying Jim Miller’s famous pumpkin display or donning your spookiest costume for Halloween on Main, fall in Waupaca can’t be beat.

While Waupaca is proud of its history and traditions, we are a community that is always moving forward. In 2021, the City of Waupaca’s Main Street reconstruction was named “Best Revitalization Initiative” in Wisconsin. Now, our eyes are set on expanding the inventory of homes affordable to hard-working families, doubling down on the vitality of our downtown through placemaking improvements, and leading the way on access to high-quality, affordable childcare.
